The ODST Drop Bay

Orbital-drop Shock-troopers (ODST) are the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) / Rapid Response Team (RRT) of the UAP's armada(s).

ODST are dropped in only when the fleet doesn't have time to land normal patrols, vehicles, dropships, etc., as it takes hours for that to be worked out, and only after a ship can reach the planet after many weeks of travel.

In stark contrast, ODST can be dropped within minutes, and from farther out (before a ship even gets into orbit). The New Horizon's Drop-pod Bay facilitates this.

ODST SOPs

Whenever possible, an ODST drop will be executed during a natural or man-made meteor shower in order to (IOT) mask their signature and make them extremely difficult to shoot down.

Once landfall has been achieved, explosives quickly open and free the ODST pod hatch of any obstructions.

Each pod is fitted with built-in, automated Thermite grenades, which melt the pod within minutes of its ODST's exit. This leaves the landing zone (LZ) looking like nothing more than a field of haphazard meteorite craters.

ODST Heritage

The ODST are the descendants of the Army Airborne of the Great Wars sometimes referred to as the World Wars of the 20th century of Earth That Was.

As other branches began to send their finest to this pioneering school of the Army, other nations began to follow suit, as well. In time, the pooled knowledge and experiences of Marine Force Reconnaissance, the Navy SEALs, Air Force Para-rescue Jumpers, and many other groups fused brilliantly into the next natural evolution for this courageous line of work; those who leapt from the sky, now leapt from outer space.
