April 12, 2506 - The Unification War begins.
February 2507 - The Alliance recaptures Boros.
March 3, 2508 - The Alliance Directorate enacts a wartime draft, but exempts those who pay a fee or provide a suitable substitute draftee.
August 2508 - Bellerophon, the last Independent planet with easy access to both Core and Border worlds, surrenders to the Alliance, which is at this point in control of all major shipping routes; the Independents are effectively split in two.
December 2508 - Independent resistance in the border worlds is stretched thin and rendered ineffective by the end of the year.
March 2509 - The Alliance unifies all of its armies under one Commander.
June 2509 - 7,000 Alliance dead in 20 minutes on Beylix.
September 2510 - Biological weapon usage rumors spread.
February 2511 - Alliance forces advance on Hera, culminating in the battle of Serenity Valley, one the last and bloodiest of the major battles of the war, which lasts two months.
May 2511 - The war officially ends. Peace accords are signed. Most of the remaining Independent forces surrender. Over 6,200,000 died in the war, disease killing twice as many as those lost in battle.
May 23, 2511 - Independents win the final land battle on Shadow.
June 2511 - All Independent land forces had surrendered.
November 2511 - All Independent interstellar units had surrendered.
Collateral Damage
Is GREAT! What better way to get your point across than to abruptly terminate all peace talks and grab the nearest granny with cataracs and a pace-maker and use her as a human shield as you drive your chainsaw bayonet through the hearts of the local clergy and fly your mine-sweeper tank at ramming speed through every school bus waiting patiently at the railroad crossing for the safety arms to be raised? No... there's just something magical and instinctual about murderous, genocidal, self-glorifying, blood-guzzling rampages through helpless, innocent villages and townships. It probably dates back to our "primitive" days -although I'm inclined to think we were advanced and intellectual back then, as that's the kind of shit that got wars done!
